Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after March of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.
His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
He saved four early opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner secured the title with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
